Ms Simone Jackson

Simone Jackson is a proud Kamilaroi woman from southwest Queensland and an accomplished Government Executive with over 20 years’ experience as a public servant. Simone has worked in roles namely relating to justice and human services across two jurisdictions (Queensland & Northern Territory).

Over the past 11 years she has worked in significant senior Government roles. Simone’s achievements include being appointed the Northern Territory’s Chief Witness, for the Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sexual Abuse and lead for the Senate Enquiry (Nova Peris) into Out of Home Care.

Simone has been a member of the Queensland Parole Board since 2017.

More recently Simone has exited government and taken up the position of Chief Executive Officer, Kambu Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporation for Health (Kambu Health). Based in Ipswich, the role is responsible for the Aboriginal community-controlled health response operating across west Moreton, over three clinical sites, Ipswich, Booval, and Laidley. Kambu Health also has Amaroo Kindergarten and a Long Day Centre, Children, and family services as well as operating programs funded through numerous state and commonwealth departments.

This is an exciting and new opportunity for Simone. The most refreshing discovery is the roles affording direct and meaningful engagement with community and clients. To see and hear firsthand, both the experiences and issues facing community has been a privilege.

Simone’s career pathway has foundations in authenticity and courage. Her story is one of professional success with purpose and determination. Simone has a daughter, 27 also carving her own career as a public servant.

Simone is passionate about improving outcomes for her mob as well as supporting all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women to succeed in their chosen fields.

Simone is a straight shooter, known for her often-brutal honesty. Simone has achieved professional and personal success, and now wants to ensure she carves out time to support women to develop their careers through mentoring and other supports.
